Flights were booked, gifts were packed, and for once, I was not going to spend Christmas stuck babysitting my sister's three k Two days before I was supposed to leave, Amanda calls. Amanda, Hey, Mom told me you're going away. I need you to cancel. Kyle and I want to take a couple's trip, we haven't had a break in so long. The kids cannot go. It will only be five days. Me, Amanda, I already booked my trip. I'm not cancelling that. Amanda, Seriously? You're going to be selfish during the holidays? I took a long breath and replied, No, I am going to have boundaries during the holidays. She hung up on me. What Happened Next? She called my mom. My mom called me, saying I was being "cold" and "not thinking about family. So I told them both, calmly, but firmly. I am not your free nanny. If you want child care, pay for it. If you want respect, stop guilting me every time I make a decision that doesn't revolve around Amanda. My phone was silent for days after that. I went on my trip. Drank hot cocoa. Slept in. To classify how desirable each user was, researchers counted the number of swipes they received from other people on the app. There were more male users, meaning that female users "generally ranked more highly in this hierarchy." Despite being spoilt for choice, the research revealed that women sometimes "chose slightly less desirable partners on average." However, the study showed that successful matches tended "to happen between people with similar levels of desirability."
