New neuroscience research shows that when people try to persuade, their brains sync less and cover fewer ideas. But when they enter a discussion to learn or compromise, their brains diverge in ways that foster creativity, understanding, & shared solutions.

Mentoring grad students is a combo of honesty, trust, and high expectations, plus the hope that your guidance helps students find clarity and growth. You’re never certain. When a student recognizes your efforts, it changes you too. Feeling grateful today for a gift that reminded me why I do this. 💙

Very interesting paper! Related to the ideas @ismaharif.bsky.social is working on within the @mediamosaiclab.bsky.social
Prejudice is common in modern societies.

Reducing prejudice is difficult to do, particularly in a cost-effective & scalable manner.

Can AI help reduce prejudice?

My new working paper w @semrasevi.bsky.social, @mbosley.bsky.social & Crabtree examines this question!

Ah yes, masks at protests? Totally unacceptable. But ICE agents pretending to be “police” while covering their faces to arrest someone with a valid student visa? Completely fine, apparently.

Love that consistent commitment to free speech and constitutional rights. Really inspiring stuff. 🙃
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.
