Maybe there will be another Collision op-ed on Ireland really going backwards

"prisons essentially function as institutions in which to "manage" people with intellectual disabilities, just as congregated settings and psychiatric institutions did in the past." www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...
We are jailing people with intellectual disabilities instead of helping them
Ireland has formally committed to protecting and promoting the rights of people with disabilities, but is failing, especially for those who are in prison

For a long time @shamimmalekmian.bsky.social has been producing remarkable journalism about Dublin but the closing line of this piece is an absolute gut-punch: www.dublininquirer.com/on-hardwicke...
On Hardwicke Lane, a tiny masjid faces hostility and xenophobia, but it can’t afford to move
A new report says there’s a lack of spaces for faith-based communities in the north-east inner-city, and urges the council to help.

Reworking my literature review of my thesis and it's great to see all the growth and work that has been done since I last worked on it which was just before Lisa Powell's The Disabled God Revisited was published

They’ve lost the plot on tradition and therefore what is “traditional,” it’s very frustrating. Read ANY pope discussing THE POOR.

I looked at SST's deadline for last year earlier this week and was relieved it was in January, thinking it would be the same because I am handing my thesis in on the 15th of December.

Now I will have to find some headspace before then to develop one of the ideas that I had put aside until 2026

In medicine, “cause” always predicates the idea of prevention or cure. I think we need to be clear: what “causes” autism is irrelevant, because autism is something which neither needs to be prevented nor cured.

No…

You got to love Tertullian for this line to Marcion
"You detest a human being at his birth; then how do you esteem anybody?"

Alt: a group of people are standing on a stage in costume with some in a semi circle watching. Thomas Jefferson does a mic drop in front of Hamilton. The scene is from one of their cabinet rap battles.
