Lving outskirts London, family in France, supports a return to the EU and sanity in politics. No time for Reform, Tories, racists, bigots, Trump.
Wax candle man rocking it on James O'Brien. Aren't experts fun.

Reform got 5 MPs at the GE, the Lib Dems got 72. So why the hell do Labour keep doing Reform Lite and not seeing the millions of us who want something different from the never ending macho, rule Britannia bollocks. Simple maths shows there are more of us in the centre/centre left than the right.

Tariffs bad enough. But the world's largest economy suddenly declaring everything needs to be changed, and that those retaliating or fighting against must be punished? That's the crisis of the bond markets etc.

This is beyond a trade war.

Trump's destructive Maoism is what is worrying institutions like central banks. No government wants to follow, not least when "bring back factories" is shown as the superficial idiocy it is. Everyone wants to try talking. But ultimately, he simply has to be stopped.

Starmer is telling us that nothing is off the table. But at she same time he is telling us that joining a Customs Union with the EU IS off the table. That does not make sense.

I have seen it said too often "be careful what you wish for, Vance would be even worse". How, just how could anyone do more damage than Trump and why, tell me why Vance is being quiet? What does he know that we don't?

I am new to this site, I miss the people I follow and vice versa on twitter. Do most people move them over and if so, is it easy to do? Starting again is a little limiting.

Oh @mrjamesob.bsky.social has his first brexit voter on this morning and his response is true to brexit form. Please keep them coming, I enjoyed the old days when they phoned in. I know it is a little cruel to laugh at them but they so ask for it. We are already at the "name one law" stage.

You know what nobody is talking about right now?

Simply this: Trump's barrage of tariffs makes a total mockery of WTO rules.

You know, the ones that Brexiters assured us again and again that we'd be just fine operating under in the event of a no-deal Brexit...

Ho hum.

Given that just 4.25% of the world's population lives in the United States of America this might be the moment for the 95.75% of the rest of us to leave them to it.

Many overseas markets that the UK could be focusing on for example - you know like the fucking enormous one on our doorstep.

No, Britain did not get off lightly in the Trump tariffs. And no, it is not much of a vindication of Brexit. Or at the least seeing it is an economic dividend is to conveniently look away from the more substantial economic costs.

New writing from me.

Question Time last night was pretty fierce. And had to be. There's a deliberate effort now to shift the ground: towards appeasement, inhumanity and authoritarianism. Once more, we must resist it. We must fight hard for kindness.
