Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Branded AI Agents are live -> Just chatted w/the branded AI agent for Lowes in the SERPs. Worked well, provided info & products based on my query, and I ended up on Lowes' site to buy. Look for those branded AI agents today from various retailers that were announced yesterday.

this is why i use "predictive model" and ask "what does it predict?"

they used a tool that predicts whether an "amino acid in a protein is likely to contact whatever chemicals that structure can bind"

and one that "predicts whether any given protein is likely to form a stable structure"

The content is still obviously delusional to anyone reading it. It’s just organised crazy. But the real danger is the internal effect on the user. The AI provides coherence and validation, stabilising the narrative they’re caught in.

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

Social media is a funhouse mirror.
I gave a talk yesterday at the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine about how social media distorts our perceptions.
It's not a mirror, it’s a false polarization machine where the most extreme voices on any issue dominate the conversation.

When an AI-powered writing tool was rolled out on a job site, the length of proposals exploded. Signals employers used to identify good candidates — like quality of writing, and relevance of experience — became ubiquitous. That was OK for bad candidates, but terrible for good ones.

This is a crazy stat regarding local news, which has fallen off a cliff completely. The lack of local news leaves an opening for something to fill the void, since ai defaults to trying to get you an answer every time.
