I’m getting so annoyed at people’s cluelessness about the fact that interviewers are SUPPOSED TO press politicians on divisive issues—& say what their critics are saying!—in order to give them a chance to have their say! It’s not a chummy podcast or a pep rally, it’s an opportunity to reach doubters

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Every novelist I know has had a non-writer offer to go 50-50 on their genius idea. “You just have to write it.”
at least some of what’s fueled “ai” is the assumption that anyone *should* be able to write professionally. It’s obviously not true, but the work seems easy when you don’t know what goes into it. It’s specific to writing—no one thinks it’s a problem that they’re not getting a tryout for the Mets!

I just dropped my first load of dry cleaning since March 2020 and my cleaner has upgraded their comms! Texting, a link with ETA, etc. It’s a whole new world.
