Respectable purveyor of badly aged takes.

Approximately handsome.

(Side bar: new NIN is solid… but I would love to hear something more low-fi, garage synth like Pretty Hate Machine… or ethereal and experimental like the soundtrack pieces with Atticus. This sounds a touch more polished and “radio-play” ready.)

@ernie.tedium.co Big Ern, what’s the idiom…

“If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck…”

This does not portend well.

Not. At. All.

The Underlying Tension Behind Stephen Colbert’s Exit
The decision to shut down Stephen Colbert’s long-running late-night show suggests it might be time to work around the studios for our comedic commentary.

The current administration is waging war… against US. The people. All of US (red, blue, left, right…).

GOP is scared - won’t help.
Dems are incapable - can’t help.

It is left to us. Using all levers (recalls, protest, boycott…)

A low-grade civil war has been roiling for years.

We are ALL in now

Shame on you. Distilling the failure of the media, our elected officials and most importantly “us” the electorate into a “Biden fault” narrative is irresponsible and reprehensible.

Part of the problem, yes… a single or even significant explanation: no.

You are better.
Quote of the Day

Pro-Tip:

If you have to hide your face in course of your “duties” - you’re ashamed of what you are doing or clearly know it is wrong.

Hey ICE - your collective actions, beyond being morally dubious and shockingly unconstitutional - are making the jobs of everyday LE more dangerous

A civil war, a class war, a holy war…

We are trying to engender all three … at once.

No one comes out of this cleanly.

I want to believe this country and countrymen care about itself more than this.

Right.

Right?

With all due respect, this is the department of defense. They shouldn’t be focused on the SecDefs best interests… but the nations.

This is how international incidents unfold. This has the potential to be an existential crisis.

I would argue that the real problem is that a not insignificant portion of the electorate secretly (or maybe openly) enjoys the cruelty.

Our Democracy is collapsing because we aren’t putting enough work to keep it.

It is an on-going project.

Why does humanity have an incredible penchant for realizing its’ most dystopian fiction?

It’s like we have this innate desire to transform Huxley, Bradbury, Orwell, Kafka, Camus, Dostoyevsky, etc into oracles as opposed to authors.

We are this masochistic collectively?

What is the point that we recognize it is not democratic backsliding - and instead an authoritarian ramp-up?

What can we do if all institutions begin to fail?

Seriously, what should we do?

It’s a tough position to occupy considering FISA… while not apples to apples, a secret court is a secret court.

I do firmly believe, to paraphrase poorly, “those who would sacrifice liberty to purchase safety, deserve neither”.

Tough to thread.
