I’ve finally read the fattest book in my TBR. Only took me about five or six years. www.deadendfollies.com/blog/book-re... #BookSky #BookReview #BookReviews
Book Review : Marlon James - A Brief History of Seven Killings (2014) — Dead End Follies
A novel that lives in that liminal space between fact and the stories we tell ourselves.

Today at The Reveal I revisited Mike Nichols' searing CARNAL KNOWLEDGE and the scandal that surrounded its release (including an obscenity case that went all the way to the Supreme Court):
The Scandal of ‘Carnal Knowledge’
Mike Nichols’ 1971 film inspired an obscenity case that went all the way to the Supreme Court. Its ability to shock has not faded.

CAUGHT STEALING includes a car chase through Flushing Meadows Park that ends with a getaway on the 7 train following a #Mets game at Shea Stadium so I am incapable of reviewing it honestly.

Just watched INTRUDER on shudder and had a very good time. RIP SCOTT SPIEGEL
Fango is sad to hear the news of Scott Spiegel's passing. Spiegel, a lifelong friend and collaborator of Sam Raimi, co-wrote EVIL DEAD 2 and wrote/directed the 1989 slasher INTRUDER in addition to his many film credits.

EDEN really gripped me. You got pretty people (a few very naked!) doing backstabby Lord of the Flies shit in the Galapagos and Ron Howard pushing against good taste in his unwinking (though often sickeningly funny) presentation of some primo cinematic melodrama.

Truly, one of the great labor movies, and one of the most cathartic, because it's about a working man who gets exploited and goes on a rampage

Was really knocked out by REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT last night. Highly recommend you catch this print on the big screen if you’re in the Cities.
This weekend, two stark realities written by Rod Serling. Though he often worked in an imaginary zone of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas, here are two films set in the very real world of postwar corporate America. www.trylon.org/film-series/...
