The thing that frightens me most about the world right now is that every second of the day, the likelihood that an average person will have access to reliable, vetted information and news decreases just a little bit.

I don’t see this trend abating. There’s no obvious path back.

"Call your airline of choice and tell them you don't feel comfortable flying out of the country."

This, @housedemocrats.bsky.social, is an action step.
Please boycott my country and tell US airlines that you won’t waste money on a ticket to nowhere. Make the airlines lobby the administration to end this fascist madness. They will scream loudly when their lucrative international revenue dries up.
Le Monde reporting that a French scientist traveling to Houston to attend a conference was denied entry to US after a search of his phone & computer revealed messages critical of Trump's science cuts, "which [says CPB] conveyed hatred of Trump & could be qualified as terrorism". They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

Why would journalists interested in the truth continue to cover this woman or the other WH propagandists? Why legitimize them through traditional coverage when they are actively trying to suppress the truth? It’s time for a big rethink and a propaganda blackout.

This. This right here. This is why the whole "ignore the trolls" argument never sat right with me. Every choice that leads you to inaction in the face of fascism is wrong.

Everything that Trump said and did today -- all of it -- was entirely predictable based on his campaign, character, and first term in office. If you're surprised, you were either misinformed or not informed enough.

The bottom line wrt to TikTok flip flops is that Trump actually does not give a 💩 if there is a national security threat to the United States — even from a hostile country that wants to destroy us — as long as there is something in the “deal” that benefits him politically or financially.
