Environmentalism Is Out of Ideas
Petitions. Lawsuits. Press releases. The movement that once built the EPA is managing its own decline. To make the environment matter again by 2028, we need risk, speed, and imagination.

Amy Bowers Cordalis (Yurok) on her family's role in Klamath dam removal:

"It makes the water in us heal too. We remember what it was like to be on a healthy planet. I think all of us are just starving to get back to that."
Amy Bowers Cordalis’ new book, The Water Remembers, weaves together memoir, historical narrative nonfiction, legal battles and family to tell the story of the largest dam removal project in history.

I just had my first late night doula call for farts I’m so happy. I’m sorry, farts turn evil when you’re pregnant, but I just love that a birthing person has someone to call in the night when their farts turn scary & they want to talk it through with someone calm who isn’t dying in poison air 🎀💨

All my life I've been very on time, a punctual polly. I would panic if I was a little bit late, if other people were late, if lateness occurred at any point in my day. After a few years of immersion therapy in my own self-created chaos I'm happy to say that I won't ever be leaving my house again.

In Hawai‘i, a long-standing struggle over the U.S. military’s use of sacred & stolen lands is coming to a boiling point, ray levy uyeda reports.

The disaster at Red Hill created a big tent for Kānaka Maoli, Hawai‘i residents, & military families to organize for the protection of public goods.
Hawai‘i residents challenge military over leases on sacred lands
Organizing by Native Hawaiians and local residents against the government's operations has only grown since 2021, when a military-owned bunker spilled jet fuel into an aquifer

bummed I can envision a universe where Usha Vance gets in an octagon to beat the absolute shit out of the widow Kirk, in an exclusive televised fight on the White House Wrestling Network—sponsored by the Department of War and the makers of truck nuts.

I don't want to sound old & boney but I'm gonna power through it. Are people hearting emails with emojis, and are the emojis sending emails back to me to let me know that the person hearted my email? and is everybody like ok with it or is it just something we're trying

While the feds continue to play stupid games, SNAP recipients are set to lose food aid for the next month. In the Bay Area, a growing number of restaurants are stepping up to help, and we're maintaining the list. Share with anyone who needs it. www.coyotemedia.org/these-bay-ar...

Amid a government shutdown that will cut off aid for 42 million Americans, local food scene folks plan to pick up the slack.

COUNT I

Kat Abughazaleh did, while law enforcement was in heated pursuit, paint what appeared to be the entrance to a cave on a sheer rock wall, causing law enforcement to forcibly bonk into said wall.

COUNT II

The same thing on a different wall, but then a train came out and ran us over???

Been seeing a lot of farmers & ranchers on social media saying they have nowhere to sell their goods anymore because of the tariffs. Can they donate that food to food banks? It seems like an opportunity to show some reciprocity to the taxpayer.

That feeling when you've been trying to match schedules to meet with someone for 6 months & you finally find a date that works for both of you but it's still four months away. So good. So far away. So much time to change our minds, to become whole new people, people with energy for meetings.

Why am I crying rn? my son drives down the road & does a little honk to say toodle-oo to the cat who waits on the deck watching for him to go by. It’s absurd but so fucking wholesome that he created space for a little happy moment to reset his mind on his way to wherever. And the cat participates 😭

And that these potato farmers brought Ammon Bundy in to set up an armed encampment to defend their right to illegally divert water. Ag is rotten with ties to violent rightwing militias. They did not *buy* this land, it was given to them by a government that uses strategic homesteading to steal land.
Wait til they find out those potatoes come from an unsustainable ag project using water the federal government takes away from tribes and endangered wildlife.
