Finally put my finger on what works so well for me about Wednesday’s lyrics: Karly Hartzman writes each new stanza like an individual – yet interconnected – bit of flash fiction. But with full-throated emotion and a grasp toward connection, rather than the distant observation of, say, David Berman.

The organ that comes in at 2:50 on “New Grass” is always the best sound I’ve ever heard… and then the violas come in a minute later. Incredible.

CPB made me who I am. I grew up with PBS, and by my teenage years, the KC NPR affiliate ( @kcur.org ) shared my car’s dial with a local alt rock station and @kjhk907fm.bsky.social.

I’m as upset as I was about USAID.

They are stripping our nation for parts. The Private Equity Presidency.

An exceptionally fun morning read with your cup of coffee.
Are you ready for the CRAZIEST story about 'Waterworld', which turns 30 today!

It relates to those opening titles with Universal globe showing the ice caps melting.

The creative studio got an unexpected 'globe' delivery when making the titles...

Patently absurd that the Democrats spent most of last week going after Zohran Mamdani instead of focusing on rallying against the bill

Join a:
-labor union
-socialist organization
-mutual aid group
-party caucus
-tenant union
-fraternal organization
-neighborhood group
And attend their local meetings!

Whatever change you want to see, you'll have a better shot getting it with other people alongside you.
Yes! Your main take away from Zohran’s victory should be: join a local organization.

It is unbelievable to me that our news media is STILL so ill-equipped to handle Trump, Netanyahu, and their ilk – those for whom personal desires and vibe are the wellspring for fact, and truth itself is meaningless.

HOW do you quote them as if they are telling the truth or speaking in good faith??

Whoever you are, if you think the fascists won’t turn on you, too, you are a hopeless rube. Fascists are for crushing, not debating.
the very next post in this thread is "not even her lawyer knows where she is" and if you think they're gonna stop with non-citizens, I think in a year or two you're gonna be proven very wrong
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Right now there is clear, overwhelming opposition to Mahmoud Khalil’s abduction across the moderate, liberal, progressive & left spectrum. This kind of loud unity is what authoritarians are afraid of. To keep it up we need every institution & public leader to join the chorus.

Once again: The animating purpose of representative democracy is to protect the rest of us from the whims of insane rich people, be they kings or oligarchs. Everything else is wainscoting.
The takeover of Twitter was a preview of what we're all living with now and a stark example of why you can't let any one person have too much money: they go insane and make themselves everybody's problem

LMAO. Now that I have actually seen the movie, this bad-faith complaint is even funnier, and rhymes with the film’s themes!!!

Breaking NYT:

The Trump admin will reduce the number of workers at USAID from more than 10,000 to only about 290 positions.

USAID officials were also told that about 800 awards and contracts administered through the agency were being canceled.

Jobs at U.S.A.I.D. will drop from more than 10,000 to about 290, according to several people.
Officials for the agency were notified of the planned cuts on the same day they learned that about 800 awards and contracts administered through U.S.A.I.D. were being canceled, three people said.

Just look at California voting to uphold slavery for the imprisoned. It is sadism and hatred. Racism and classism, too.
Prisons are the laboratories of human rights abuses because so many Americans think criminals deserve anything that happens to them
