There’s nothing left of the famous Rashōmon gate in Kyoto (contemporarily referenced in the movie of the same name) except a stone marker. I love that it’s in the middle of a playground.

Brilliant letter from two FTC commissioners. God save the US consumer if this letter goes unheeded.
FTC's 2 Dems Slaughter and Bedoya to Trump's chair Ferguson: You "promise allowing more mergers, firing civil servants, and fighting something called 'the trans agenda.' Is all of that more important than the cost of healthcare and groceries and gasoline? Or fighting fraud?"

This is a really excellent review of the situation in Syria by the historian Simon Sebag Montefiore, in The Free Press — www.thefp.com/p/simon-seba...
Simon Sebag Montefiore: After Assad
His bloody reign of Syria has come to an end. What sort of country will the warlord Abu Mohammad al-Jolani usher in?

One of these insanely sensible things you see all over Japan. A simple single tile at a subway entrance marking compass direction for simple way finding when you exit.

Make America Great Again? Design — infrastructure, healthcare, education, and transportation — in a way that puts people first.

Recently shared this classic text from the Stanford Research Institute with a friend in Berlin. Somewhat biased toward the SF Bay Area given where it was written. I hope it’s not helpful.
