The context for a lot of the "why don't people make conservative students feel more welcome 😔" contaversies is that a lot of those students see themselves as active enemies of the institutions they're part of.
Holy shit, A&M fired a Dean, a department head, and a professor over a recording a student took in class of content that seems entirely in keeping with the course, based on a video a student—who seems to have been gunning for this—took that I’m not sure they were allowed to take.

not to point out the obvious, but all this shit is racialized. Democratic voters are seen as inherently less *valid* than Republican ones, and because Republicans have a more or less permanent majority among white Americans, they're unconsciously (or not so unconsciously, nowadays) the 'norm'
Republicans as default, Democrats as the Other, ad infinitum
weird how both Clinton and Biden winning the popular vote never resulted in demands that Republicans had to leave their isolated bubbles and become friends with Democrats.

Look, I'm just saying, preemptive Butlerian Jihad solves this problem very neatly.
I don't think LLMs are conscious, but I do think SOME sort of test would be good, to preregister beliefs, and to make sure we don't whoopsie into an experiential trillion millennia of torturing something that's like us.
