Students at Olympic high school in charlotte, NC walkout to protest ICE defying the principal.

Young people are waking up to the injustices of this administration, they won’t tolerate being lied to for much longer. ICE isn’t here to protect. Young people need to realize how much power they hold!

“While the AI industry claims its models can “think,” “reason,” and “learn,” their supposed achievements rest on marketing hype and stolen intellectual labor. In reality, AI erodes academic freedom, weakens critical reading, and subordinates the pursuit of knowledge to corporate interests.”

Olivia Guest & Iris van Rooij urge teachers and scholars to reject tools that commodify learning, deskill students, and promote illiteracy.

been enjoying making some soups and stews in the Instant Pot lately! it used to be that heating up a can of soup was a struggle meal but now cans of soup are like $5+?? so it's way cheaper to make my own and it does feel pretty satisfying ngl

I don't believe in exercise that makes me sweat. I wish to glide around unglistening and unbothered. I will also deign to perform brief feats of strength. No moisture required!

You can curse daylight saving time, daylight saving, daylight savings, daylight savings time, and/or daylight time.

All are considered acceptable so go off.

THIS is the question I have for every single over enthusiastic academic, dean and administrator who can't wait to crowbar "AI" into everything.
We have pastoral responsibilities to our students--their mental health is already poor, thanks in part to the pandemic we are so assiduously ignoring.
A simple question: given the pervasiveness of AI use for therapy with catastrophic results and the fact that mental illness often presents during college, what are you doing to safeguard your students against serious harm by ChatGPT?
what is this word vomit

Tesco Express, Sainsburys Local, Little Waitrose, etc—why tf don’t we do this in the States, capitalists could make their money and normal people could actually get decent food without shlepping to their nearest megaslopstore or relying on goddamn Dollar General

one thing the British are really beating our asses on is having little grocery stores—not bodegas, not corner stores, but actual grocery stores with fresh produce, meat/proteins, cheap healthy meals, essential ingredients, etc—all over the place
