South Korea has been producing quite some drama lately for a country that seemed so boring and unspectacular over many years.
Lee Jae-myung was once stabbed in the neck while holding a press conference, almost died during a hunger strike against corruption and in December, 2024 he climbed the fence into the parliament hall which he stormed while it was being held by the military just to vote to end the martial law.

Which incidentally is also why the EU finds it hard to trust the U.K. post Brexit
I personally think that we will neither trust nor rely on the US for a long time after the Trump Regime is gone.

I once read somewhere that one of the actual purposes of NATO, and US dominance of NATO, was to keep defence spending in Europe and especially in Germany artificially down. I think that makes sense. A rearmed Europe with its political fragmentation is not a great prospect for the future.

To destroy a country, you need to destroy its institutions, its economy, its reputation in the world, its relationships with allies, and strengthen its enemies. Trump is doing all of this.
If I was Putin, with agents inside US Govt, these would be the instructions to finish off the US as a global force:
1. Gut safety agencies covering aviation, nuclear, food & disease protection.
2. Dismantle USAID
3. Introduce tariffs to crash economy & cripple food production
4. Betray Europe
