Whatever comes to my mind.
Plus now you have Musk planning a new party. That will not hurt Republicans as much as it will hurt Democrats and I wouldn't be surprised if it would block them from taking back control in 2026.
Think about it - 200,000 voters in four states. And the 40% who couldn’t be bothered. As France’s Europe Minister said “We cannot leave the security of Europe in the hands of voters in Wisconsin every 4 years”. They get it. We don’t.

South Korea has been producing quite some drama lately for a country that seemed so boring and unspectacular over many years.
Lee Jae-myung was once stabbed in the neck while holding a press conference, almost died during a hunger strike against corruption and in December, 2024 he climbed the fence into the parliament hall which he stormed while it was being held by the military just to vote to end the martial law.

Google already has a massive problem with AI generated websites. Have you tried to find a good review of something recently? It's almost unbearable.

Trump promised that foreign countries would it eat the tariffs, not US consumers. Now that US companies need to raise prices, he throws (mostly US) shareholders under the bus.
Donald Trump has blamed Walmart $WMT for raising prices due to tariffs.

He made a mistake by admitting that he is guilty. Trump will never pardon him.
After getting sentenced to 7 years in prison, George Santos issues a statement begging Trump for a pardon.

A majority of voters voted for Trump, so the problem is not just Trump alone. Look at the UK. Reform UK will again get a large share of votes. Just unbelievable.
Which incidentally is also why the EU finds it hard to trust the U.K. post Brexit
I personally think that we will neither trust nor rely on the US for a long time after the Trump Regime is gone.

Because apparently the US is so divided, polarized and messed up by propaganda that this kind of madness could be invited back in after a few years.

This is not a Trump problem.

Maybe high is bad?
Trump: "I took my cognitive exam as part of my physical exam, and I got the highest mark, and one of the doctors said, 'Sir, I've never seen anybody get that kind of -- that was the highest mark.'"

Great explainer on trade deficits and what they mean in the long run for the US. Trump applies the shock therapy with his tariff blunders. Probably not the best way, but might they work?

I haven’t written much about tariffs, because so many other economists are doing such a great job.

How dumb was the methodology of Trump's "reciprocal" tariffs? Well, Switzerland now faces a 31% rate simply because of a late-2024 surge in US gold imports. If the new US tariff regime had been calculated using 2023 data then Swiss imports would only face an 18.7% levy. www.ft.com/content/9072...

Now Musk has learned his lesson. If he wants to buy an election, he'll do it the old-fashioned way, through dark money PACs that are impossible to trace to any single donor.

Many years ago, I thought there would be massive social ramifications of the large and increasing gender divide in educational attainment. Some suggestions then:

- educated men a scarce commodity ✅
- ⬆️ assortive mating
- ⬇️ marriage rates
- change in social mores around (single motherhood)

Ahead of Trump’s “tariff day” April 2, let me reiterate a basic fact.

Value added tax systems do not distort trade.

European consumers pay VAT
US consumers pay sales taxes

End of story

A 🧵to make this painfully obvious if the above is not clear 1/

Emphasis on "has ever had"
Trump is anxious about Canada and Europe coordinating their responses to US tariffs. Of course they should coordinate – without broadcasting the fact that they are doing so.

If you are frightened by the US switching from global policeman to bad actor, wait for a remilitarised Europe to do that. That's going to be really ugly.

I once read somewhere that one of the actual purposes of NATO, and US dominance of NATO, was to keep defence spending in Europe and especially in Germany artificially down. I think that makes sense. A rearmed Europe with its political fragmentation is not a great prospect for the future.

Most obvious money waste by the US govt is easily space exploration. Not sure why DOGE is not cutting that hmm
Seems less than ideal.

To destroy a country, you need to destroy its institutions, its economy, its reputation in the world, its relationships with allies, and strengthen its enemies. Trump is doing all of this.
If I was Putin, with agents inside US Govt, these would be the instructions to finish off the US as a global force:

1. Gut safety agencies covering aviation, nuclear, food & disease protection.

2. Dismantle USAID

3. Introduce tariffs to crash economy & cripple food production

4. Betray Europe
