So happy to work with this great team.
Please check out our latest article.
SO HAPPY to share our new paper in @currentbiology.bsky.social! Using volumetric EM, we found daily shifts in synapses, vesicles, and mitochondria that accompany neuronal remodeling, linking structural plasticity to changes in how s-LNv neurons influence their targets

Daily ultrastructural remodeling of clock neurons
A cluster of Drosophila clock neurons remodel their axonal arbors daily. Using volumetric electron microscopy at different times of day, Ispizua, Rodriguez-Caron, and colleagues reveal ultrastructural...

This is great news for Argentina!
Luciano is one of the most talented and successful researchers I've ever met, and Argentina's optics community is lucky to have him back!
Bienvenido!!!
Thrilled to announce some big news!

Excited to share that I’ve been awarded a Wellcome Trust Early Career Award to establish my research as a Group Leader in the Glycosciences Program at the Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine (IBYME) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, beginning in early 2026.

We are seeking assistance in locating a missing researcher in Germany. If anyone is based in Germany or has contacts in the area who might be able to help, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Any information or support you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Extremely excited to share quite an achievement for our group. Two years ago, we started #PhasorPy (www.phasorpy.org, now in our v0.8). In parallel, Bruno Pannunzio, in collaboration with Marcelo Zoccoller, led the hashtag#Napari_Phasors plugin v0.1 for FLIM & HSI phasor analysis.

This is insane. 13 years ago we bought a million dollar #microscope to do this type of super-resolution imaging. Today, all you need is a smartphone and a few hundred bucks of off-the-shelf components 🤯

Direct single-molecule detection and super-resolution imaging with a low-cost portable smartphone-based microscope - Nature Communications
Loretan and colleagues present a low-cost smartphone-based microscope capable of detecting single-molecule fluorescence. This approach opens doors to personalised and widely distributed applications in diagnostics, biosensing, and science education.

Playing around with how to represent volume in #Snouty light sheet data. Here is a dividing hiPSC with endogenously tagged histone in all three orthogonal projections. Bluer is further away. If anything, it distracts from politics.

Our manuscript on accelerating the acquisition rate in oblique plane microscopy (OPM) is online now:

Our work addresses the issue that an OPM PSF is tilted, and as such it leaves a lot of "empty space" in Fourier space (FFT of experimental data on the right)... 1/n

Another nice example from the 1st Snouty light-sheet microscope!
