Currently grading the exams of our grand tour of math lecture (combinatorics, complex number, linear algebra, Transforms, ODEs and PDEs).

Very happy to see that the students did exceptionally well!

Damn skippy, someone even solved the i^i spicy question.

Honored to lecture at AQLM.

Yes, I was a student in the class of 2007, a fantastic course!
Day 7 of AQLM is #light sheet day! New AQLM faculty but former AQLM student, Dr. Reto Fiolka @retof.bsky.social will educate us on the vast landscape of #optical techniques used to generate a light sheet and why they are all useful.

Apply now to join us! bit.ly/49YQl7q

I am currently reading Innumeracy.

We were warned about the dangers of a society incapable of doing basic math 37 years ago.

How I wish elected officials, anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists would read that book😞.

Can report the students are wicked smart😎.

Also learned a lot of new things that I have missed on my first Analysis rodeo ~20 years ago.

You indeed understand something when you can teach it!
This semester I am teaching in a course called Mathematical Foundations of Quantitative Biology.

It involves combinatorics, distributions, calculus (ODEs and PDEs), linear algebra and Fourier Series and Transforms.

Taught on blackboard with chalk.

Actually quite excited to do some #math .

Study section that was cancelled due to shutdown is rescheduled for early January next year.

Two days will be compressed to one day. That will be superintense.

I have 7 applications to present, will try my best to stay sharp🫡

I am dreading a post-antibiotic world, so this sounds awesome!
British and Australian chemists have discovered a powerful new antibiotic called pre-methylenomycin C lactone, hiding in a well-known soil bacterium. This molecule kills drug-resistant bacteria without triggering resistance. buff.ly/YlXaONo

Felix Zhou's u-Segment3D is out:

www.nature.com/articles/s41...

It leverages 2D cell segmentations from orthoviews to generate a ‘consensus’ 3D segmentation.

It does a great job on segmenting densely packed samples, and we have used the algorithm in many applications.
