my view is these should be designed around a commons. let groups of friends and families live around a nice garden and outdoor kitchen, as a treat. so many people dream about that and yet no one builds it
Placing 5 to 6 800 square foot “cottages” on 10,000 square foot lots is not a housing solution any city should take seriously. The planners are wrong to push these on single family areas in major cities

Still thinking through everything here, but this is a good, straightforward piece of old fashioned architectural criticism that, I think, successfully navigates the complexities of the assignment, worth reading.

It's my favorite day! It's the 38th anniversary of the Max Headroom signal broadcast intrusion!

1st incident lasted 25s during the 9PM news on WGN-TV in Chicago; The 2nd, 2hrs later, lasted ~90s on PBS affiliate WTTW during Dr. Who.

A cornerstone of professionalization of architecture is that it makes us self-regulating. Even today, joining the AIA means agreeing to a code of ethics.

It's rare, but any member can charge another with a breach of this code, and it seems it might happen for the architect of the Epstein Ballroom.
