Don't know who might need to know this, but in the state of Illinois, if a person more than five years older has sex with a 15 year old, it's at least a class 2 felony, with no statute of limitations (I am not a lawyer, this does not constitute legal advice)

I sorted through a Car Box (a box into which I hastily shoved all the debris from my passenger-side floorboards before a trip some months ago) and found a feelingsbomb. One of the pieces of paper was the receipt from Persi’s cremation last fall.

I finally conceded that we are never going to get caught up on the post-remodel house cleaning and hired pros for a one-time deep clean. But we still have to declutter so they can get to the surfaces to clean them… by tomorrow morning.

An ongoing project: building bifold doors for a 6 foot wide opening. This is the back side of one door panel, part way through the multi-step finishing process we use on poplar to simulate the look of walnut.

Nepali goat curry. Boneless chunks of goat meat were marinated overnight, and the curry was simmered on low on the stovetop for nearly three hours. So, so good. I would do this again with bone-in meat in a slow cooker.

I have accidentally run out of whole coriander seed during curry season and I am trying to decide what level of emergency this is. An “upgrade the shipping” emergency, or a “drive 90 minutes to the nearest Penzey’s store on a Saturday” emergency? I am too pigheaded to just buy a grocery store brand.

One of the few subscription services I haven’t canceled yet is Spotify. I started prepping to cancel and discovered that Apple has killed iTunes and I have yet to figure out how to listen to music I’ve already purchased other than using a different subscription service. WTF?

I was just reading about the fate of the SS Kielce and wondering exactly how many mediocre white guys came to a consensus that it was a fine idea to try to dismantle the hull of a ship full of explosives by using explosives.

Linguine with homemade bolognese. This is just the 45 minute version rather than a 4-hour ragù, but it’s still delicious. And finishing the pasta in the sauce is key. (Ideally I would have served a fairly dry Sangiovese with this, but the Pinot was open.)

I got mad enough to change my party affiliation to Independent, but when I went to check on how that would impact my eligibility to vote in primaries, I was reminded that in my state you don't have a party affiliation associated with your voter registration. I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION
