Senator Cory Booker -- nearly 23 hrs into this -- is more coherent than your average elected official speaking (while seated) at an average legislative hearing.

Even if you haven't been watching all along, dip in for a moment -- he is making considerable sense:

This is horrifying. Wonder if Schumer thinks the line has been crossed yet?

"A terrified young student, snatched off the street by a masked police force taken thousands of miles across the country without anyone knowing. It is as flatly authoritarian as anything we have ever seen in this country," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk's detention.

ONE PERSON is responsible for a huge # of book challenges in SC. ONE PERSON is responsible for 40% of book challenges in FL. (His name is Bruce.)

A single voice absolutely makes a difference. Use yours and raise it for good. For god's sake, are you going to let fucking Bruce run the show?!
Thanks to @aclusc.bsky.social and @authorsabb.bsky.social working in SC to fight bans. The challenges have been brought by 1 parent who earlier filed 97 challenges in Beaufort County, nearly all of them denied. She's re-challenging now that a state law passed in July 2024 makes banning easy.

Should tell you everything you need to know. This cannot pass. Imploring all Senate Ds to vote no.
Donald Trump just congratulated Chuck Schumer on his decision to vote YES on the Republican CR.

@schumer.senate.gov , you are on the wrong side!

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath.

I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

Sen. Tim Kaine tells federal employees to ignore Trump’s offer to quit with pay for months. “Don’t be fooled. He’s tricked hundreds of people with that offer. If you accept that offer and resign he’ll stiff you just like he stiffed the contractors. He doesn’t have any authority to do this.”

Under Trump, the U.S. military tried to erase the Tuskegee Airmen’s legacy—a disgrace that won’t be forgotten. These men risked their lives for a country that disrespected them, serving during segregation, seen as “less than.”

My mom’s uncle, Nelson Brooks, second from the left, was one of them.

Breathe. Embrace your free time. Pour into your community. Respect what you can't control. Reject nihilism. Remember pace and perspective. Burnout is the enemy and helps no one, least of all yourself, and should be stridently avoided. That's the only way we're gonna get through this. And we will.
