Plusieurs recommandations sur l'open-data des décisions judiciaires marquent un recul important pour la publicité de la justice, qui est pourtant un principe fondamental de notre démocratie.

Our academic search vendors are struggling to describe their new "AI search", using all sorts of terminology. Worst of all is many of them use "AI powered search" could literally mean anything from using LLM to construct Boolean to doing (dense) embeddings style retrieval and ranking. (1)

(And 🔼🔽 for a good thread on chairing panels)
Research shows that if a man asks the 1st question in a panel, engagement is depressed for the rest of the Q&A so I am explicit that I won’t ask a man to ask the 1st question (no pressure, non-men!) I also clarify that after the first Q the floor is open for everyone 6/9

Since 2020 libraries have been active in teaching undergrads how to "fight fake news", verify information, first using CRAAP , and then moving to SIFT to be more inline with fact checkers (lateral reading). The issue I think is this has led to confusion, naive students (even some librarians) (1)
When teaching undergrads about verifying news we teach them to look for other sources and see if they match (lateral reading). Does that mean if some ask me a very technical question on say QM but I have no background can i just run chatgpt, Claude, Gemini & if their answers agree I can stop? :p

As academic librarians we often have a self image of ourselves being "good at search" but what does this really mean? I would argue there are many different types of search tasks/domains and most of us are good in maybe 1 or 2, decent in a few others and just bad in many (1)
