fwiw, “cheap goods from china” really understates the high quality of manufacturing you can get from chinese suppliers these days. also, we can have real prosperity with pro labor economy and a generous social insurance state but they don’t want that!

This is part of what’s so insane. As they talk about re-shoring and manufacturing they are actively trying to destroy an entire us manufacturing industry that already exists.
I’d write a really long caption about my thoughts and feelings about the current state of the world and country, but I don’t think I’d be able to succinctly, factually, and emotionally get my points across.

We need to start using stronger language than weird. For too long we’ve been almost kind in our rebuke (and I’m using we to mean the whole of non maga/republicans cause I ain’t afraid to call them imbecilic sycophants). Weird is too kind. They are vile, inhumane, evil, unholy, pieces of fucking shit
I’m still not over the fact that Tim Walz went viral for calling Republicans ‘weird,’ put Trump and Vance on the defensive, then got picked as Harris’s running mate because of it, and then… he was immediately silenced, disappeared, and Dems stopped calling the GOP ‘weird.’
