It's absolutely insane to think that one of the things that led to this is the complete inability for our sclerotic gerontocracy to understand that *everyone knows* what is actually happening this time and they can't just go on TV and lie because nobody watches it anymore

A conference I was supposed to keynote sent a message forbidding speakers to discuss Israel and Gaza. While I wasn’t necessarily planning on commenting on it I withdrew from the event on principle and encouraged others I know to do the same. Academic freedom is too important to compromise on.
