Americans have questions about whether the Earth is round. They expect honesty and transparency from their government when seeking answers. For years, people who asked questions in good faith were dismissed, even vilified by “the media” and their own “government”. This ends today.

This is what the death of expertise looks like; the people in charge hear a number, run with it, interpret it wrong, and then issue orders demanding that no one correct them.
How distortion becomes reality:

Since the Trump admin continues to claim Mr. Abrego Garcia is a gang member, I thought I'd take the time to put together a timeline, based on all the documents filed in court, which lays out all the "evidence" the government has ever offered.

As you'll find out, there's very little "there" there!

Here’s what RFK Jr. has done since a measles outbreak began which has killed 3 people so far:

1. Buried a CDC report showing need for vaccination

2. Recommended vitamin A, resulting in liver damage in kids

3. Defunded vaccination clinics nationally

4. Hired a fraud to manipulate vaccine data

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

You have to see this.

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

There are trans Americans right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist.

Well, I am. We are. We will.

Also, a woman was handcuffed at a subway station in NYC (Franklin Ave) when she intervened asking why a delivery man was asked to show work permit by undercover agents. There is a video of that.

I, for one, welcome the “abundance” fight. It shows the left can fight Trumpism while wrestling with how we can be better than we’ve been.

I have no interest in “actually the government has been doing great” liberalism.

You really can’t script this. The same week the Trump admin invokes the state secrets privilege to deny Boasberg info, he is assigned the lawsuit over the Trump administration’s apparent carelessness with state secrets.

Mike Johnson is now floating eliminating federal courts:

"We do have the authority over the federal courts, as you know. We can eliminate an entire district court. We have power of funding over the courts and all these other things."

if Hegseth and others won't resign, impeach them

House Dems should file impeachment resolutions today
The Defense Secretary and several others need to resign and face charges. Every member of Congress should demand it. Nothing less is acceptable.

Also, all federal employees, to include FBI special agents, need to remember their oath is to the Constitution, not the president or a cabinet secretary.
18 U.S.C. § 793(f) makes it a federal crime to for people entrusted with information related to the national defense to, with gross negligence, disclose it to others in violation of that trust.

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks…

“The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social

Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government.

JUDGE: "Did you not understand my statements in that hearing? Did you tell DHS it was an order from me to turn the planes around?"

1/🧵 Judges across ideological lines are ruling against Trump at strikingly similar rates (84% liberal, 86% centrist, 82% conservative). This isn't partisan opposition to Trump—it's the judiciary functioning as intended by cutting across partisan lines to uphold the Constitution.

It's not real.
It's not us.
It's not bad.
It's too hard to fix.
It's too late.

Just about every climate denial argument I've ever heard is a variant of one of these five categories, and each one is as bad as the next.

Why? Because they all have the same goal: prevent action as long as possible.

My view is that the American South never fully took to liberal democracy. And I think we have to reckon with that to face the moment we’re now in. I wrote about it for @thebulwark.bsky.social

Waiting for Liberal Democracy in the American South
Our country’s constitutional order is withering before us. In the states of the former Confederacy, democracy never fully flourished.
