And all the weirdos who believe in Roko's Basilisk actually work in AI even though, if you actually believe in Roko's Basilisk, you should be putting on a bomb vest and going to the OpenAI shareholder's meeting.
Ten years ago Roko's basilisk was a funny thing you could bring up in conversation as like a "can you believe these people" sort of thing and now you have to know about it to understand what's going on with some of the biggest tech projects in the world
