A few of the 53 "potted landscapes" made for each of the stations of the Tōkaidō road, the most important route in Edo-period Japan. After they were made the artist had a relatively obscure ukiyo-e artist named Utagawa Yoshishige to illustrate them: publicdomainreview.org/collection/5...

Having one of those can’t-properly-enjoy-a-museum-because-of-my-job days: just spent a full 3 mins staring at this barrier and wondering what it was actually for. Some people were stood on each side of it. It in no way stopped anyone getting to an object.

I’m so proud and excited to be meeting my first Arts Emergency mentee tomorrow. It’s such a brilliant charity and I’m so pleased to be able to play a tiny part in its next stage.
Since I set up @artsemergency.bsky.social (not inc 2y piloting & discursively developing a project) FOUR people have signed up to our community EVERY DAY. That’s now 17,200 people over the past 12 years. 90% of our team & 100% of our trustee board would have been eligible for the project aged 16🧵

“Doom:The Gallery Experience is […] a museum visiting simulator designed to mirror the experience of pompous adults rather than children on school trips or family days out. Those are the two basic genres of museum/gallery goer, and I will not be convinced otherwise.” 😆
