Yes! The silmarillion is important to read but I always suggest people read the HoME books too if they can, especially the unfinished tales if they want to understand where the showrunners are getting a lot of their ideas from
We recently got news that S3 of Rings of Power finished filming, so this is your reminder to go read Unfinished Tales before it drops. esp if you had issues with S1+2. Once you read UT you'll see why the showrunners made some of the decisions they did bc the show is like a loveletter to it.

The only coping mechanism with being around insufferable ppl I’ve learned is shutting my brain off in the moment.. but later once my brain turns back on I’m like fuck I should’ve called them out or snapped back. I don’t even know how to argue irl I’m so used to just putting up with everything 😭
