The US has had strategic voters, not-voting-as-a-protest people, and third party leftist voters forever. You can’t just ARBITRARILY decide the strategic voters are responsible for Republican success. It’s as ridiculous as liberals arbitrarily blaming Green voters for Trump’s victory.

In my small California town, a city council member proposed a reduction of police funds in the budget. The police surrounded her with their cars in the parking garage to send a signal. They're a gang and will use every enforcement tactic to strongarm people into fear.

Wrong. She called the clerks immediate when she was AG of California to order they start performing same sex marriages. There is video proof. She was enforcing that civil right before it was a national law.
