americans say they want third parties because “I can’t vote for the lesser of two evils” as if the mythical third party is going to agree with them on everything

representative democracy is always choosing who you disagree with least, even in multi party systems

also they literally have primaries?

Third parties win 0% of the time
using "the other guy sucks!" as a voting tactic is bad both because 1) if you announce you're willing to vote for a bad candidate just because the other guy is worse, that's all you'll get & 2) it clearly doesn't work, as evidenced by how the worse parties win at least half of the time anyway

Quote from “Guy who will never admit he fucked up.”

Like in theory yeah that’s the case, but it was a fuckload easier to protest and get things done under a regime that was kind of bad than it currently is under a regime that will just kill you for doing so.

"The other guys sucks" has been a valid voting strategy that frequently causes regime changes. Fuck's this guy smoking?

The US has had strategic voters, not-voting-as-a-protest people, and third party leftist voters forever. You can’t just ARBITRARILY decide the strategic voters are responsible for Republican success. It’s as ridiculous as liberals arbitrarily blaming Green voters for Trump’s victory.

Honestly, the way Americans just CONSTANTLY post this never-ending stream of “the reason Democrats lost and things are so bad is because they didn’t do exactly the thing that I, personally, wanted to them do anyway. To win they should do all the things I like best” is so fucking tedious. It’s…
That’s not evidence it doesn’t work. You’d need some point of *comparison*. Like a country where no one ever does strategic voting and yet has a higher rate of success for non-shitty parties. And if you announce you *won’t* vote for a relevant candidate, they’re just going to ignore you altogether.

In my small California town, a city council member proposed a reduction of police funds in the budget. The police surrounded her with their cars in the parking garage to send a signal. They're a gang and will use every enforcement tactic to strongarm people into fear.

Kamala Harris has done more for trans people than any elected in history. Task force to once murders of trans women. Gay/trans panic defense law. Helped change the Dept of corrections ruling on inmate placement. Filed Brief on the Gavin Grimm case. And much more

Wrong. She called the clerks immediate when she was AG of California to order they start performing same sex marriages. There is video proof. She was enforcing that civil right before it was a national law.

Try again.

My city has an LGBTQ liaison officer

Our cops can choose to wear a special Pride uniform patch to designate they are allies or community members!

Encourage positive interactions w/law enforcement!

SEVERELY punish those who are abusive!

This is Attorney General Kamala Harris when gay marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court - telling the clerks of court to start officiating marriages immediately.

But you don't like that? Well, I hope you like what the current administration gives you.

I just find a whole type of Queer Radicalism honestly tiring, draining. "Queer liberation, not mere inclusion" what does liberation actually look like? What will my life be like? What will be my day to day?

america chose this outcome.

it’s not like 81 million people voted for Harris and this is all happening anyway. we didn’t show up this time.

we DID show up in 2020 and we got the most progressive president of our lifetime out of it. from unions, to student loans, to the ARP & IRA, to chips act, etc
