Right-leaning media dominate the online ecosystem with a clear strategy: control the message, control the people. That’s why independent media sites are more important than ever as a counterbalance. New from Jeff Nesbit
Here’s why Trump ignores traditional media: He has his own media ecosystem now.
And Democrats not only don't have the same network, but they don't seem interested in building one.

not paying indirect costs for research is like only paying the players in the Super Bowl.

can't have a Super Bowl without coaches, referees, security, janitors, announcers, stadium staff, and a stadium - and you can't have research without supporting people and facilities

This is a great point. About to publish a paper with Manfred Asuman, Abubakar Ibrahim and @msobelcohen.bsky.social about tokenism on editorial boards, focusing on a small number of overrepresented scholars and institutions from underrepresented parts of the world.
There are many layers here, but I want to comment on one aspect of these findings for now--the editorial board representation. Some will see this and immediately think: we need to get more POC on our boards! I understand that impulse, but encourage you to think a few steps down the game tree 1/n.

"Carville: I’m pretty limited to the media consumption survey. I’m pretty limited right now to how people get their news, which I don’t know…"

Thousands upon thousands of studies about this. The fact that someone in Carville's position thinks he has to reinvent the wheel isn't great.
News --> James Carville is commissioning pollsters to do a deep dive on how people get their news, in hopes that Dems will overhaul how they communicate with voters, particularly working class ones.

It's a good idea. Carville explains it on our podcast:
