Music, Australian politics, gymnastics, interesting random stuff, geeky pop culture and speech therapy. More of a reader & replier than a poster. Trying to re-create the diverse and fascinating feed twitter used to serve up back when its algorithm worked.
I grew up in a country town, and we all went to see any touring act that visited so we all went to see Darryl Braithwaite when he was touring his Rise album. And some old guy in the audience yelled ‘sing Horses’ after every song.

He didn’t sing Horses.

I’m blaming gen Z for this one! #hottest100 (at least it’s not number 1).

Icehouse had plenty of better songs, but there’s no denying this one is iconic and loved. The sort of song you know as soon as the first note plays. #hottest100

Ok, I voted for this, and sure it kills the vibe, but I will stand by it as one of the best anti war songs ever recorded, and one of Australia’s best ever protest songs. #hottest100

Every younger gen X and elder millennial with Saturday kids’ sport and a million other time-sensitive things to do is wondering how they’re going to drag themselves away from this #hottest100 to get it done.

Ooh Electric Blue at 92!!! This was one of the darlings I had to kill to get my top 10, but twelve year old me is so happy it made the countdown. #hottest100

First female vocalist in at 95 with Spiderbait’s Calypso evoking the late 90s. #hottest100

This!! This is why it was so hard to find a top ten! 16 minutes into the countdown and three songs that could have been in my top ten if I’d voted on a different day. It’s going to be a banger of a day. #hottest100

This is quite a read (it’s a thoughtful and insightful article, not a privileged whine).
"I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky." Canadian entrepreneur and actor Jasmine Mooney, who was detained in the US for two weeks, writes for the Guardian about her experience.

Banana, bacon and cheese toasties used to be a thing in cafes in rural Australia. I haven’t seen one on a menu for about 20 years now, but they were actually…..tasty.
thought experiment: sliced bananas in grilled cheese. food genius or food crime?
