Music, Australian politics, gymnastics, interesting random stuff, geeky pop culture and speech therapy. More of a reader & replier than a poster. Trying to re-create the diverse and fascinating feed twitter used to serve up back when its algorithm worked.
Clearly very loved, (I am indifferent to it) which just goes to show that different songs speak to different people.

Worried!

This is my first genuine ‘thought it would be higher’ surprise of the day.

I voted for this one and my 20 year old did too.I thought it would be top 10 (and I like the original better than the club mix because the full lyrics are important.)

SMH reported that triplej said most votes were from the 18-29 age group, which I find surprising given the countdown so far.

Look as long as number one isn’t Horses or How to make Gravy, it’s already OK by me. Wall to wall gen X bangers would be boring!

That’s what I voted for!
July 26, 2025 at 4:38 AM
Not my first pick, but I’ll happily take it! 54 is good!
July 26, 2025 at 4:34 AM
This one was a slam dunk - it was never a question of if, just what number.

Me too!

I think there is a lot more conversation happening at just #hottest100

Beds are Burning will be their highest, and the Dead Heart still stands a chance although I think it would have been below this one.

This whole countdown has evoked many small rooms, tents, stages and RSL halls. I think that’s what is making it so fun. Homebake and Livid really were an era weren’t they!
July 26, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Ooh, it starts here at number 70!
July 26, 2025 at 3:01 AM
I’m predicting a top ten finish for under the milky way.

Voting was SO HARD that I reckon anything that makes the list has a huge amount of love behind it. My guess with the Oils, Nick Cave etc is the sheer size of their body of work will split the vote any one of their songs get. As opposed to Savage Garden who will have that one song that rallies fans.
