You still hear the phrase "navel gazing" to describe someone who's supposedly self centered and in some way detached from what's going on around them but the opposite is more likely true. It's a cost free, non destructive way to become more grounded & calm.🧘

Maybe they should replace those rage parlors where people go into rooms and smash objects, with weeping parlors, places where you can go and have a good cry without disturbing your friends and family or neighbors. There'd be a box of tissues in every room and maybe some tea afterwards.

I miss the days when there was writing and analysis of "comparative religion", Joseph Campbell and the rest. Some of it was comparing common myth motifs, some more psychology based.
"Dharma" teachings arise naturally as the Universe's compassion for its own suffering.
These teachings arise as all religions, spirituality, or beliefs that help remove the causes of our suffering.
Even if we do not practice "dharma," we can appreciate a sense universal self-compassion.
