Peel Ports had years to upgrade their ferry port at Ardrossan. They chose to take the revenues & profits rather than invest in the future. They knew for years the new ferry was too big for the current port. Private enterprise only looks at the short term profitability not at the long term future

Odd one tonight, watching Simon Schama's 'Road To Auschwitz', and I'm stopped in my tracks by the work of Polish artist Gela Seksztajn. I see John Byrne, and Joan Eardley's Townhead Samson clan.
Gela and her daughter were murdered by the Nazis, in some banal camp, in 1941.

The Horniman Natural History Gallery features this stunning walrus.
It was transported to England, purchased in 1886. There, the taxidermists, having never seen one in the wild, stuffed it until the wrinkles smoothed out.
This is a fully inflated walrus, my friends.
