Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

I guess final point, ask yourself why it's the left wing, antagonistic indie media guy yelling about this and not every journalist in NZ banding together and protecting their compatriot. Let alone even making individual public announcements of support.
When I say media are subservient to ACT it's because ACT goes directly after media, & individual journalists, & media leadership just accepts that, doesn't protect its staff (& ACT posting about someone is a one way street to death threats btw) & then implements ACT's suggestions.

Age verification laws are right up there with real names policies in the pantheon of "you think this is going to help people, but it's actually quite disastrously bad" ideas.
The Impact of Age Verification Measures Goes Beyond Porn Sites
As age verification bills pass across the world under the guise of “keeping children safe online,” governments are increasingly giving themselves the authority to decide what topics are deemed “safe” ...

I love how HDMI CEC let's me power on all the devices I need with a single button press. And I love how turning on the PlayStation turns on the television, which turns on the Apple TV, which changes the input channel away from the PlayStation, so I have to find the remote and switch it back.

It's super cool ordering limited edition things into New Zealand and waiting to see which delivery company is going to straight up lose it in customs, and then claim they have no record of it entering the country.
