"Let’s be clear: anyone flying right now is rolling the dice with a -5 penalty to all rolls."
Our 6 AM Lyft driver knew the Greyhound route from New Orleans to Atlanta well. He took it many times as a youth to visit his grandpa. The bus line brought back cherished memories.

“So is it, you know, nice?” I asked.

“Oh no,” he replied. “Noooooooooo.”

The Wayward Bus
In which our doughy protagonist drags his poor wife from a romantic getaway into an unscheduled 30-hour bus trip through the heart of America, courtesy of the government shutdown.

All joking aside, the Bond writers are not having trouble figuring out how to bring him back from the dead. That's easy. What they are having trouble with is figuring out how to up the stakes once you have actually detonated a nuclear bomb.

You know, I do not miss a lot of the extreme comic book heroes of the 1990s but I do miss the Jared Stevens version of Fate. I feel like there's room to bring him back as a distinct character.

And throw in Scare Tactics too. Just make Arnie Q-pilled so it's more current.

This morning there was a big breakdown that interruped train service going into town, so I thought I would pop over to the Pittsburgh Transit Authority website (rideprt.org) to see if it had been cleared.

Try to go there now and see if you can find info about service disruptions.

Katamari Damacy has such a simple and addictive gameplay loop and it really says something about Namco that they keep finding new and innovative ways to interrupt that loop and make that game less fun.

By now everyone on the Internet knows that most adaptations of Dracula leave out the cowboy, but did you that most adaptations of Frankenstein leave out Knuckles O'Toole, the regrettable Irish stereotype who serves as the monster's sidekick and provides what passes for comic relief?

What is his end goal here? If he takes Tesla private his net worth would plummet and there'd be no stock left for him to borrow against. Even if he took all the profits it would be a huge pay cut.

He's just upset that people dare to question him and is having a hissy fit, because he is a big baby.
Musk is still talking at the Tesla shareholder meeting and he just criticized "the parasitic load of being a public company" which has "grown over time."

This from a man who was just awarded a $1 trillion pay package from more than 75% of his public company shareholders.

I hope he's OK.

But when our politicians are fainting, randomly stopping to stare off into space, and babbling incoherently maybe it's time to start looking for younger leaders. People with ideas and energy and drive. not just the guy who's been in the back quietly waiting his turn.

Can we get a 6-part prestige drama about Curtis Sliwa's career as a professional eater. Dude came in 3rd in Nathan's Famous Hotdog Eating, holds a record for most pickles, was DQed from a matzah ball eating contest for illegal ball handling, and the mob kicked him from a meatball contest.

I don't know why every phone app has suddenly decided it needs a contextual drawer that slides up from the bottom of the screen which is impossible to dismiss, but I hate it.

Look, it's simple, the "War on Drugs" is a rhetorical turn of phrase intended to prome the political pump. not a real war.

Drug smuggling is not a crime punishable by death, and even if it were, not without a trial. Even if drug smugglers were enemy combatants they could not be executed at a whim.

Really confused by these Mike Embrescia ads that proudly mention his endorsements without actually saying who has endorsed him, or even mentioning what party he represents.

You know, we don't see where the Thrillionaires wind up after they go cycling through that portal. I am worried that it's not a portal and just a fancy looking disintegrator.

(Probably a mercy, now that FanDuel has their bank account info.)

What's strange to me is that no one in the media is pointing out that the shutdown is the inevitable result of the Republican refusal to negotiate in good faith.

Every time the Dems have struck a deal the Repubs have found a way to weasel out of it -- recissions, reversals, delayed votes, etc.

Re-reading some old MAN-WOLF comics and it is astounding how much they depend on John Jameson -- famous astronaut and last man to walk on the moon -- to forget basic facts like "the moon comes out every night" so he transforms unexpectedly.

As I never tire of pointing out, the late great Myron Cope pointed out all of these issues in the last piece he ever wrote, *18 years ago*. An article that had to be published in an alternative weekly because no other media outlet in Pittsburgh had the cojones. www.pghcitypaper.com/news-2/calli...
