I can think of at least eight federal laws that have been broken by Musk and his goons over the last few days, and at least two provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

They must be stopped.

Arkansas was among the 10 states with the most children in rural areas relying on Medicaid for health insurance in 2023, and was one of only six with more than half of its rural children on Medicaid, according to a new report.
Proposed Medicaid cuts would hurt rural areas, including Arkansas kids, researchers say • Arkansas Advocate
Congressional Republicans have also proposed work requirements for Medicaid recipients. Arkansas' 2018 work requirement was struck down in court.

I was photographing trees and fog when the sun came out and lit the top of this tree stump. A "dead" tree is full of burgeoning life.

Well, just ... Happy solstice everyone!

This is the most darkness we'll have this year.

Wish I could say as much for the four years to come.

THIS IS HOW YOU FUCKING REPORT ON WHAT HAPPENED. LIKE THIS. WITH THESE WORDS.

Also if you're not following and reading the Tennessee Holler, please go start; they're one of the very few media organisations right now putting in a good-faith effort to do right by their readers and the moment.

If the government shuts down Saturday, the richest man in the world will be largely to blame.

You may not get access to services you depend on just before the holidays because an unelected billionaire shadow president wanted it that way.

If this isn’t oligarchy, I don’t know what is.

If we're going to complete the transition to Bluesky away from the Tr💩mp-loving socials, I guess we need to start sharing like we do on the other platforms.

We managed a lovely (if short) weekend hike in between my son studying for semester exams.

Sitting here in the Subaru service department listening to the old ladies in the corner and getting every single one of their old lady references and THIS DOES NOT MAKE ME OLD!

Does it?

When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.

But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.
When we were children, we were taught that no matter how you reached, no matter much wealth and power you accumulated, you were not above the law.

We can no longer teach our children that.

And that's really fucking tragic.

If Republicans pass the bill allowing them to target charities they don't agree with, could this be used later under a different administration to target churches?

When one story (Matt Gaetz) is getting so much attention, there's another story that is not getting so much attention. Trump knows this and uses it. What is he trying to sneak through?

Former member of media here.

Please remember that every time there's a story framed in a certain way, there's a choice made NOT to frame that story some other way.

It's not just political bias we're fighting.

It's the way stories are told, the stories that get told, the stories that get ignored.

As I note to @propublica.org
and explain further in The Privateers, vouchers are a right-wing billionaire priority, but they don’t help most kids and families.

Voters see through—incl conservative voters—when given the chance to weigh in directly on the issue.
