I’m catching up on @nogodsnomayors.com and I’m so glad @mattielubchansky.com mentioned the only tweet from or about New York that has ever mattered

The funny thing is that I work with some guys who are as close as you can get to the real life versions of Chuck Schumer’s imaginary friends and they are so much angrier at Trump than Schumer can imagine

Well the good news is this anger has distracted me slightly from the thing in my personal life I’m very anxious about

I get it but also arguably not having to work, but having to perform working, probably made 'the workplace' worse. Either set up workplaces where everything can be done within a few hours, or let your staff also carry out japes and schemes

Once again, Gillibrand’s office picks up but no one at any of @schumer.senate.gov’s offices seems to be able to answer the phone
The thing about being one of Schumer’s constituents is that I’ve never, not one single time, been able to reach a real person at his office or get someone to call me back. And I’ve tried. So. Many. Times.

I’m sure the senators are glad that no one has ever committed a crime, say an assassination, over their dissatisfaction with health insurance in this country
Otherwise you’d worry that starving people and letting them get sick and suffer would have negative repercussions for the social fabric

And now we know why the shutdown is ending.
The Federal Aviation Administration will limit business jets and other private flights to some of the country’s largest airports to ease strains on air-traffic personnel.
FAA Limits Private Aircraft Flights at Major Airports
The restrictions will affect private jet flights at a dozen airports, including Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, and Chicago’s O’Hare, according to the National Business Aviation Association trade group.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead

I hope that the comic industry unionizes one day. Its workers deserve so much better than they get
Reminder that, unless a creative freelancer has a spouse with a day job that offers health insurance, they likely have an ACA plan. And with the hits to creative industries the past few years, I'm guessing many qualify for subsidies.
Related reminder that comic creators are freelancers.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

the minute flights got canceled, Dems folded like a house of cards, leaving me to wonder why the fuck this post made some of you so angry
not enough chatter about how frequently members fly and how attacking airport capacity directly affects them in a way that cutting SNAP does not

It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

The ACA made my whole self-employed life possible. For almost ten years, I was able to build a career that actually worked for me AND keep receiving necessary care to address the consequences of childhood medical neglect. And I still deserved better. We all do.
