Art, mixed media, photography, gardening, hiking. Always doing something in our studio in SE Portland Oregon.
Enjoyed a weekend stay at Heceta Head Lighthouse B&B. The lighthouse keeper’s home was a beautiful Queen Anne, the room and the view magnificent, and the seven course breakfast each morning exquisite.

Large waves could start lapping at some parts of the Oregon Coast and Washington as early as 11:30 p.m., according to estimates. In other areas, the biggest waves won’t arrive until closer to 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Republican-backed budget bill that passed in the U.S. Senate Tuesday authorizes dramatic increases to logging on federal lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. But Oregon counties won’t see most of those revenues if the bill clears the U.S. House unchanged.
Federal budget bill would boost logging — but cut funds to Oregon timber counties
The proposed budget bill would increase logging on federal lands, but most of that money won't go to Oregon counties that typically receive a portion of timber sales.

Banana slug! I have never seen one rear up like this one. This was quite a good sized one close to 6-7 inches long.

The forested part of the park at Powell Butte was cool and green this Sunday. With recent rains the mosses and ferns are really thriving.

Powell Butte has beautiful open meadows that are filled with wildflowers right now. The lupines are past, the daisies are in full swing, tansy is coming up, it was a lovely place to walk this Sunday.

It’s raspberry time in our backyard garden, having to freeze them in batches because they are ripening faster than we can eat them fresh - favorite recipes? I made sorbet last year. What do you do with your berries?

You might not know her name, but Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough just made some major calls when deciding the fate of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” The good news: this big ugly bill got a lot smaller. For a breakdown of what stayed in, what got cut, and why it matters, look no further.
