Today has been this first day since Sunday where I have been able to eat enough to do more than be in severe pain for daring to ingest a tiny amount of nutrients and pass out. Not even a meal replacement shake was safe. I have a week’s worth of cleaning to cram into two days now. Sigh.

The Ford government spent $111.9 million of our money in one year on advertising promoting the Ford government so I feel like we’d better not see Doug or any of his cabal doing photo opps at food banks this Christmas telling us how much need there is.

I generally am the kind of boring ass person who genuinely likes to get practical useful stuff as holiday gifts. I use them and appreciate having them.
But. I have genuinely wanted a big ol’ bushel of dirt for a few years now. Never mind that the dirt is from an Arkansas crystal mine… shinies!

More than a scant inch down out there now. It’s pretty, but I wish my migraine had gone overnight. Only awake because the folks with the driveway right behind the head of the bed have a snowblower. Damn annoying alarm clock - especially when you don’t get set the time or the volume!

We have a scant inch of snow in the ground. I wish the asshats ripping around our neighborhood on their snowmobiles a hearty “Fuck You” and good luck getting their machines out of the impound lot when they get snagged for riding on city streets.

I got the yard put away
Monday. Yesterday I unfucked the kitchen. Late afternoon I started getting serious helmet head and eye pain. It has gotten worse continually from there. So yes, Virginia, there IS a migraine - brought to me (& hopefully not you) by the fine folks at Polar Vortex. 😵💫🖕🏻☠️

I got the yard put away

I am certain I do not want to repeat last winter’s excessive enthusiasm for snowsqualls and ice storms. But I would still like some snow, please. I’m hoping the wind swings some our way later this week - but ideally not before I get the backyard sorted out.

Getting ready to run the holly-f’n-jolly gauntlet in earnest now. It always feels like an endurance sport I didn’t sign up for but have to play anyway. As always, I will engage as much as I can stand, but not an iota more. (I do like baking, at least.)

It is interesting watching language shift in front of you. I am increasingly aware of how people are using words with “-ed” as a suffix to indicate something in the past tense, even if the word has already has a proper past tense form. Like “holded” instead of “held”. Or “finded” instead of “found”.

I managed to break my headphones at a very important spot, which has defied repair with any of the more visually-pleasing ways. So the things are currently held together with a good amount of duct tape, and a carefully bend spoon for rigidity. It works. That's what matters.

I found cute skull candles in black and white at Giant Tiger a while back. I was positive I bought 2 packs of 4. I have one. Driving myself mad trying to find the other one before next weekend! It’s not the end of the world, but it’s frustrating. I swear my brain is melting some days.

It’s chilly today, but properly so and it’s glorious. I am indulging in a cup of tea. I like tea, but I never started drinking it on a daily basis, or in large quantities. So a cup of tea is just an occasional pleasure.
I rather hope the weather stays like this for a few weeks.

New stove has arrived and taken its’ place in the kitchen. Nothing fancy but it works. I suspect I will miss the plug socket on the top of the control panel the old one had, but aside from that it’s just fine. And just in time for casserole season.

My good and faithful stove did me one last service, and together we finished getting the beeswax on my hag tapers for Samhain. I find them very pleasing objects. If I remember I will try to get a video of one burning, since I imagine it’s something to behold. 🔥

I took the plunge and removed the AC today. I’d like to think I won’t suffer for my decision, but I predict there’ll be a couple days I earnestly regret it. But I am sick of the damn thing being in the way.
