Being “tough on crime” is racism. Being Tough on Crime means more police scour the streets for brown n Black people n disproportionately catch us up in the system, turning us into slaves under the 13th amendment once in lock up. Being “tough on crime“ is ALWAYS a racist RW dog whistle.
Being "tough on crime" is just a call for deterrence. And study after study has shown that deterrence doesn't work, except to sate society's demand for vengeance, to treat "criminals" cruelly. And THAT isn't even deterrence at all. It's retribution, and it precludes rehabilitation.

The CSSL/NTP assisted the US National Weather Service (NWS) with their upgrading of the official rating of the June 2025 Enderlin, ND tornado from EF3 to EF5.
Announced by the NWS today, it’s the first EF5-rated tornado in the US since 2013.

I went through conversion therapy.
I hate that name. It's not therapeutic. And it's not that it doesn't work. I hate when people say that, because "doesn't work" implies a placebo. Conversion therapy isn't.
