I poked around NCMEC's website after @marisakabas.bsky.social reported the DOJ threatened to cut off funding unless it removed references to queer and trans kids. It appears to have done so, including taking down guides for stopping sex trafficking.

i find it unnerving to be around anyone who’s not terrified out of their minds by what’s going on in the US right now. talking to someone who hasn’t really been keeping up with it all bc they think it doesn’t affect them feels INSANE like hey please join our shared reality

I’ve been mostly trying to not fixate on how things will probably change in the coming weeks/months(years) and instead focusing on appreciating what we still have right now, but whew it is harder some days than others (today and tomorrow, for starters)

The thing that kills me is you don't need a time machine to understand this. My buddy is in his 80s and grew up on Iowa. He point blank said as a kid sometimes other kids just died. That was his childhood.
