I poked around NCMEC's website after @marisakabas.bsky.social reported the DOJ threatened to cut off funding unless it removed references to queer and trans kids. It appears to have done so, including taking down guides for stopping sex trafficking.
Mentions of trans kids scrubbed from national child safety clearinghouse website
NCMEC was reportedly threatened by the government.

I love that these complete morons assumed we were sending palettes of cash to countries and not sending things like rice and wheat while paying American farmers for those goods

i find it unnerving to be around anyone who’s not terrified out of their minds by what’s going on in the US right now. talking to someone who hasn’t really been keeping up with it all bc they think it doesn’t affect them feels INSANE like hey please join our shared reality

NEW — OMB temporarily pauses all agency grants and loans programs.

Per copy of memo: "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve."

What a joke. Tiktok is state media now. Don't think they won't do whatever Trump says in terms of content moderation and the algorithm.

There's this creator I used to follow who used to say "you can do it miserably" and that's such good advice.

You don't have to do certain things happily but you do have to do them.

I’ve been mostly trying to not fixate on how things will probably change in the coming weeks/months(years) and instead focusing on appreciating what we still have right now, but whew it is harder some days than others (today and tomorrow, for starters)

FYI reconnecting with your recently divorced first love who broke your heart 15 years ago and then accidentally entering into a situationship with him is a hell of a drug and i don’t recommend it to a single person

In thinking about what rich nations owe the developing world, here’s something to keep in mind:

The average American emits more CO₂ in one week than an average person in low-income countries does in one year.

The thing that kills me is you don't need a time machine to understand this. My buddy is in his 80s and grew up on Iowa. He point blank said as a kid sometimes other kids just died. That was his childhood.
I would love to tell you about the times vaccines prevented me from getting sick, but every time it happens, I don’t notice. I just keep feeling well.

Neither do you.

Public health, when it’s working, is invisible.
