During Covid, my 9 yo son slept w / me almost every night. At 14, he still won't verbalize if he's not okay, but his sudden need for cuddles and mom is loud and clear. He surprised me last night by falling asleep in my bed; he needed mom. I don't care how old he is - mom will always be a safe space.

During Covid, my 9 yo son slept w / me almost every night. At 14, he still won't verbalize if he's not okay, but his sudden need for cuddles and mom is loud and clear. He surprised me last night by falling asleep in my bed; he needed mom. I don't care how old he is - mom will always be a safe space.
Today is 14 weeks PO from my second knee surgery. Heel slides remain my nemesis, but I keep reminding myself I have to do the stuff that sucks so I can do what doesn't. Current flexion is around 110° with a therapeutic goal of 120°. I'm thankful for my progress so far and looking forward to more!

There is too much at stake. Showing love means using my voice, especially when others have already been silenced. If I do not speak, if I remain silent, I've let them take away who I am.

Yesterday I tried to focus on the good things, no matter how simple - a favorite mug, hot coffee, a calendar that helps me learn, and my "dopamine 'dragons'". There was a glorious orange and red sunrise I saw only a small part of. We need to remember what makes us smile even when the world is dark.

We like to believe that technology & social media will limit political secrets or that too many people are in the know to keep things quiet; I disagree. We've already seen the weaponization of X, Meta, and TikTok, and few of us trust the news. There's so much more they aren't telling us.
