Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

I keep seeing these DIY redecorating clips where they are using (not taking down) navy blue wallpaper with flowers on it. They all mention how they are decorating in a way that looks "expensive".

I have bought a ton of little low tech things over the course of the last couple years and I have made a few purchases that were very small but life changing for a middle aged lady:
-hand fans
-cotton hankies
-cheapass reading glasses
-decent pens (you pen nerds were totally right about pens)

A pleasantly buzzed family is an easier family, but the tipping point from pleasantly buzzed to aggro drunk is widely variable and situational. If you have a talent for mixing drinks, declare yourself the bartender and mix/pour lightly. You’re not charging money, so it’s okay to water it down.

It’s TOTALLY okay to have a gallon zip top bag in your pocket at the kids’ table, and anything a kid doesn’t want to eat goes in the bag to be discarded.

Went to Walmart today and saw canned meats in the shelf. While, tuna and corned beef might be the norm, canned roasted meats are new. There is literally ground beef! And that more than anything is telling of the depression we are headed into.
