There's a great bit in the novel Butter about the power of a turkey roast and how the difficulty of it is the point as an act of ultimate culinary dedication to those you love, and I think about that moment a lot
“if it’s a small gatherng of 4-6 people just buy a rotisserie chicken and skip the anxiety and all the prep of cooking a whole turkey and sixty billion sides”

I love working for a University that has a high proportion of overseas students studying in the UK, now to take a big swig of coffee and see what the Government is doing to support my struggling sector

Glasman is the final boss of class discussion because a literal peer of the realm is ranting about working class and how to win votes

Maybe the most solved murder in American history, but the idea the leader of a nuclear power could be killed by a single very motivated marksman who had already tried to shoot and kill a public figure melts people's brains
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

Find Cummings interesting as he's a thoroughly disgraced public figure who has been trying to cope with a loss of political standing by becoming a freak weirdo altRight incel who has twitter fame and is a year away from posting about gooning as am act of enlightenment

Had Nixon died in 74 like he nearly did, I do think America would have probably had a much healthier fifty years

The American proposals are horrific and demand the Ukrainians butcher themselves, also pretty obvious the Russians won't accept them because it still leaves Crimea vulnerable to blockades without a land bridge lol

Looking the financial indices out of the UK and apologies if this has ever come up before, but have they considered reviving the economy by joining a large economic and political consortium of countries nearby, say in Europe?

I wonder how Scottish Power's award-winning LGBTQIA+ employee network In-Fuse feel about their company's name being stamped on the awarding of a hate group assaulting the rights of their community.

I don't really care about historical accuracy in movies but I do feel like, if you're not going to be accurate, have fun with it and pull a Titus '95 or Richard III

Its quite striking to me the similarity with the no more jury judgements thing Labour wants to do how they say “criminals shouldn’t get juries“ when the reality is that its “people wouldn’t get juries“
Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.

Mill workers were hugely important in the push to get women the vote. Although wages were low they, wielded economic power and were well organised.

They often, unfairly, get overlooked in the popular narrative where the quest for the vote gets cast as a purely middle or upper class movement.
This has to be one of of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century from March 1907. Sixteen years old suffragette Dora Thewlis. A poor mill worker from Honley in Huddersfield she was a member of the Women's Social and Political Union At a demonstration in London she is

We need a word to describe how the media makes sure that it sets its own news agenda on TDOR, trans day of visibility, Pride Month, and the anniversary of Brianna Ghey’s murder. It happens every year, and it’s shameless.

I’d like to propose: “flooding” - like “flooding the zone”.
This is how the media mark Trans Day of Remembrance in the UK
