Just watched the new version of “The Running Man” and it was better than I expected.

Not great, but better than I expected.

I don’t know what conference is in town, but the tech bros are out in force this morning. Vast herds of 20-something dudes in Patagonia vests with corporate logos wandering through the city in a vaguely eastward direction.

My reward for holding the elevator for a coworker was missing my train by five seconds and now having to wait 20 minutes for the next one.

Dog hoodies — pointless but entertaining.

Half marathon no. 34 - 2025 Berkeley HM

Six days ago, I fell down some stairs and banged up my back pretty bad. God bless the EMT at mile 4 who took one quick look at my bruises and gave me well beyond the recommended amount of ibuprofen. Don’t think I would have finished today without it.

Signing up for the 2026 race while I’m waiting at the starting line for the 2025 race. Sigh. I guess there are more destructive addictions.

I assume that people who can wrap presents while only using three tiny pieces of tape have signed some sort of pact with the devil.

One of the least fun aspects of being the primary comms person in a large organization is sending stuff out and getting back hundreds of "out of office" replies. Always makes me feel like everyone else is out there partying at the beach and I'm the only chump stuck at my desk.

I’m at the “95% totally fine/5% blinding excruciating pain if I bend down to tie my shoes” stage of recovery after falling down the stairs a few nights ago.

Between this and all the social media reels being foisted upon me, it’s hell to get old.

I’m really tired of FB and IG constantly pushing reels on me. I guess I’m the only person left who prefers reading content over watching short videos.

I guess I’ll go shake my fist at clouds now.

Update: It was the rain that blinked first. Chihuahua stubbornness remains undefeated. (As if there was ever any doubt.)

Currently in a three-way standoff involving heavy rain, bladder capacities, and chihuahua stubbornness. Something's gotta give eventually.

Chilly and rainy today. Definitely staying under the blankets.

Got our first mailer for the June 2026 primary election today. This is going to be a long campaign season.

I’ve been hopped up on painkillers and propped up in an armchair all day after last night’s trip down the stairs. My biggest accomplishment today has been seeing Walter Koenig in an episode of Mannix.

In 2000, I slipped and fell down a flight of stairs and bruised several ribs.

And now in 2025, I slipped and fell down a flight of stairs. No rib damage this time, but my back is going to be terribly sore tomorrow.

In 2050, I will just avoid stairs altogether.

One of those rare albums where every single track is excellent...but I've always been most partial to "You are the Everything."
Green, the band’s 6th studio album, was released this week in November 1988. What’s your favorite song on the album?

My wife and I occasionally kick around the notion that we could possibly retire back in the place we grew up, but then I look at the comments on our hometown newspaper's FB page and reconfirm that there's absolutely zero chance of that ever happening.
