There are stories about certain American shows (Turn-On, You're in the Picture) being canceled midway through ep1, but that just means the networks decided not to air ep2 while the first one was on the air. Never heard of this happening here.
I don't know, but I refer to the line that cancelled a TV show during its first episode quite a bit.
(It was "Get that sh*t off the air".)
The first* episode of 'Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos' was replaced half way through with a 'Cheers' repeat.
