This is a really detailed and extensive report.

tldr - immigrants' fiscal impact is so positive that it would be absolutely foolish to adopt anti-immigrant policies (which of course this administration is doing bc of racism)
The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.

The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

Romania’s first democratic leader, Ion Iliescu — who died on Aug. 5 at the age of 95 — was one of the last of the top communist apparatchiks left from the dissolution of the Soviet bloc.
A Bolshevik for all seasons: The paradox of Romania’s Ion Iliescu
Iliescu has a complex legacy. He will be remembered as the country’s first democratic leader, and for his brutal crackdown against dissent in 1990.

Underappreciated aspect of Senate Republicans' unfunded mandate for SNAP: they're setting states up to fail. The amount is tied to a state's SNAP error rate. But the bill:
-Cuts federal $ for strategies that reduce errors *in half*
-Adds new & error-prone red tape requirements
And the bill includes other policies that make errors more likely & increase the risk eligible people lose access to the food benefits they need.

It adds huge amounts of red tape for states & families—while slashing federal funding for states to hire staff, update systems, etc.
