This is so sad, for the individuals who have lost their jobs and for the school and the children. I’m aware of school librarians who purchase second hand book with their own money to keep the libraries stocked.
Every single high school in Glasgow will lose its librarian under the current plans.

It is happening after SNP and Green councillors voted for major education cuts in the Glasgow City Council budget.

What do young people think about universal school mental health interventions?

A social worker who works in a high school:
they haaaaate the en masse interventions. hate them. the only en masse interventions i have ever seen that work are posters around a school (the ones that work best are the ones that direct students to the rooms where they can get 1:1).

For me, these new findings are exceptionally useful for suggesting we should stop universal MH interventions in schools, and focus on one-to-one, targeted and directed interventions instead. @jackandrews.bsky.social and I argue this is more detail below

And EVEN IF some autistic people are unable to pay tax, hold a job, play sports, be creative, go on dates, and will need high levels of support for their whole lives, you know what?

They still deserve that support, love, and understanding so they can live fulfilling lives full of happiness and joy.
The speech by RFK Jr indicates that autistic people are a disease. Also we can't pay tax, or hold a job, play sports, be creative, or go on dates, he says.
And if we don't agree that we're an epidemic that will cost 'a trillion dollars' for society, we're deniers of reality.

Well, no.

ADHD/autism co concur with other conditions for example EDS/ Hypermobility syndrome/Pots/Dysautonomia that do cause physical mobility issues . Mobility is also being able to negotiate travel without support use public transport. So yes mobility is an issue

By focusing on an extreme expression of misogyny “we may miss a conversation about what is happening every day and ...[the] mundane [yet harmful] ways that these expressions of misogyny and sexism are coming from young boys in schools,” notes @drstephaniewescott.bsky.social
The Adolescence alarm: ‘If there’s a problem with boys’ behaviour, it’s because of us’
Millions have been gripped by a story of toxic masculinity in children that’s been called a ‘wake-up call’. But is it a moral panic, and how should we respond?

The most heartbreaking thing ever (for me anyway) is schools constantly blaming your child for their “social skills” when neurotypical kids are never asked to develop empathy or understanding of autistic kids. This article is great with alternatives!
"Why is it that actively training autistic and wider-neurodivergent children & young people to people-please in exchange for conditional inclusion (but not necessarily acceptance) is still considered 'best practice' by professionals and parents?" Alternatives here:

Toxic Social Skills Training Goals, "Be yourself, but not like that."
The vast majority of new-to-me students come with IEPs that have, probably well-meaning, but in actuality, toxic social skills goals
